Whodunnit? Reaction + Handicap - Episode 4

Another episode of Whodunnit, another roster recap.  We're down to five victims and eight remaining guests by episode's end, and it's clearer than ever that finding that Killer's Clue is the key to victory.  Onward to Whodunnit? talk.

In this most recent episode, the five non-members of Team Lawyers-Blondes form a united coalition of their own (I call it the Gang of Five), Geno find the Killer's Clue due to equal parts cleverness and luck, and we have a first-time winner and a pair of first time Scared guests.  Next week, horseback riding and snake wrangling.  But here's the cast breakdown:

EPISODE 4 - Mountain Lyin'

Sheri
Dontae
Adrianna
Don
Ulysses

Well, last week I wrote that Ulysses lives and dies with his team's success, and I was totally right.  Team Lawyers-Blondes missed out on the big clue, and as a result it's now just team Kam-Blondes.  I'm a little surprised that Ulysses and Kam got the Scared cards - this suggests either that Lindsey and Cris both had better details in their case presentations (possible, but unexpected), or that one of them did and the other's the killer.  I'm leaning towards door #2.... Poor Ulysses. He was clever, but not as detail-oriented as Kam.  Or Cris or Lindsey.

Status: Dead

Cris

Cris and Lindsey had the solid idea of eavesdropping on the Gang of Five, but then had the very dumb idea of telling them about it instead of going straight back to their lawyers.  After it all went down, the Gang of Five decided to take it directly to Team Lawyers Blondes and guarantee that one of them ends up dead.  Cris (along with Kam) is one of the most-suspected of the remaining guests, and her going between the groups and having a shady personality (I guess?) makes her a likely killer.  She hasn't been Scared yet, so I'll keep her winner changes decent.

Chance of Killer: High
Chance of Winner: Medium

Dana

Oh Dana, I knew I was right to have some faith in you!  When Geno shared the clue with you, you picked up on the HCN reaction perfectly, and probably went on to explain the chemistry of Don's death better than anyone else.  Dana was the round's winner, and earned the respect of the rest of her teammates (Geno for certain, as he called her a genius to the camera).  I still think she's maybe the least-likely killer in the bunch, but Dana proved that she's smart enough to be a factor in the game.  Good for her.

Chance of Killer: Low
Chance of Winner: Medium

Geno

Geno had a solid outing, committing to his new team, doing some high-level manipulation in only sharing part of the clue with Kam and Cris (hoping to freeze out Ulysses and Lindsey) and acting like a boss in general.  He was super-duper lucky to get to the third and final hint to the Killer's Clue (he went upstairs looking for Sasha, who was tailing the Ulysses and the blondes, who were the only guests to find the first and second hints legitimately).  Sasha gave Geno the last hint, and Geno was the only one of the five to figure out that the clue was in the library safe.  Those oven schematics in the safe were the key to Don's murder (Don died of cyanide poisoning from the oven, and after he died the released mountain lion toyed with his corpse before eating Don's steak).  Geno, probably wisely, shared the clue with his team and then worked with Ronnie and the others to sabotage Team Lawyers-Blondes.  Geno is still a major player who could be the killer OR the winner, but I have to chalk some of his win up to Sasha.  I hope he manages to feud with Kam until the final few episodes.

Chance of Killer: Medium
Chance of Winner: Medium

Kam

Kam wasn't around much this episode, looking for the Killer's Clue alone and getting played by the bigger numbers and better information of the Gang of Five.  I still think he's a good manipulator and smart competitor, but he failing to check the oven in the investigation phase and his total lack of presence in finding the Killer's Clue left him in the dust.  I was surprised that he drew a Scared card, so I guess his story had more holes than just the exact manner of death.  Lindsey and Cris couldn't have been too far behind.  Right?

Chance of Killer: High
Chance of Winner: Medium

Lindsey

Lindsey was DELIBERATELY frozen out by everyone other than her teammates, but somehow managed to snag a Spared card.  Her story definitely had some mistakes in it (she said the mountain lion was brought in from the countryside, and there's no way she could have known about the cyanide).  But Kam and Ulysses had it worse?  Really?  Anyhow, almost nobody in the house trusts Lindsey (maybe Cris?), and that suspicious Spared card and her audio in the killer's message (the laugh, the mention of "stables") make her one of the most suspicious in the game right now.  Kam-Blondes is two players short to the Gang of Five, and that makes their chances of victory look bad indeed.

Chance of Killer: High
Chance of Winner: Low

Melina

Melina was a good team player in this episode, but otherwise wasn't a big factor.  She did okay in the investigation phase, I guess, but didn't help during the killer's clue and didn't stand out in the endgame.  Really, this round belonged to Geno, Dana, and Sasha.  Ronnie and Melina were just along for the ride.  Probably the weakest member of the Gang of Five, but I could be wrong.  Anyone could be the killer or the winner in this game.  I've been making a number of assumptions of a The Mole-ish nature.

Chance of Killer: Low
Chance of Winner: Low

Ronnie

Ronnie provided some foreshadowing to the oven clue when he he checked the oven vents (where one of the biggest hints was located), but downplayed them to Kam and Lindsey.  He didn't notice the alterations made to them, but at least drew attention away from them.  I guess?  Whatever.  I still think Ronnie's smart and a good candidate for winner, but this wasn't his finest hour.  He's in a very safe position, though, as probably the dominant personality on the dominant team.

Chance of Killer: Medium
Chance of Winner: High

Sasha

Geno owes this round to Sasha, but they both made it through so I don't think either of them cares who found the clue.  With plenty of other bodies looking for clues haplessly, Sasha decides to tail three members of Lawyers-Blondes just as they find the napkins in the hall closet pointing the way to the Killer's Clue (essentially skipping two out of three steps in the clue-hunting process).  Sasha shows the hint-napkins to Geno, and Geno strolls straight to the clue in the library safe.  Sasha is still one of the smartest, toughest cookies left in the competition, and I believe she is a good possibility to win it all.  Her competitiveness makes me think she isn't the killer - if I'm wrong, then she's a damn good actress.

Chance of Killer: Low
Chance of Winner: High

That's worth something, right? Next week I'll go for day-after.  But hopefully before then I'll have a Skyrim review out.  I'm four GOT 'IMs behind.
