I love colorful, wholesome entertainment.  Especially in video games, like Dragon Quest, Super Sentai, and Pokémon.  I also love interpreting those wholesome things like a dirty old man.

Seeing in 3DS

I broke my rule of not buying any video games until November by buying a 3DS on sale last month.  And I'm not regretting a thing, because I feel that I've already got my money's worth.

GOT 'IM - Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

I'm officially halfway done with my 2014 gaming quest, and I'm not even halfway done with 2014.  This is way, WAY more promising than last year, and I'm excited. Also, welcome to June.  My apologies for the blogging-free May, but I was busy with (A) being out of the country for 10 days attending a wedding and exploring Austria and Germany; and (B) playing Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, which I'll review presently.

Here's a new thought experiment.  I'm going to start making Top Ten lists of games for the consoles I play the most.  I'll kick it off with this bit about my favorite games on Nintendo's sales juggernaut of a handheld, the DS.  
 

GOT 'IM - Donkey Kong Country Returns

Still embarrassingly behind on my 2013 gaming goals, but at least I got some Wii time in last summer.  Yeah, this is a game I beat in late August; I'm behind in writing these.  Donkey Kong Country Returns after the break. 

GOT 'IM - Pokemon White Version 2

I'm still messing around in the post-game, but I've technically had it beaten for several days now.  The latest Pokemon joint as well as one of my 2013 targets, White Version 2. 

GOT 'IM - Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Tsurugi

This entry is a game that I *technically* finished several years ago, but without unlocking enough secrets to see the real ending.  That simply wouldn't do, so 6 years later I decided to remedy that.  Today's review: Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Tsurugi.

It's been five short months since my last Zelda experience, but it's been a Zelda kind of year, I guess. My latest completed target game is none other than The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

Wii Games I'm Getting

I own a Wii and two games for it. Enjoying it quite a bit so far, if mostly for Super Mario Galaxy (which is great); I'd like a few more titles on my shelf, but not too many. And whenever I'm trying to categorize or break something down, I make a list. You see where this is going.

GOT 'IM - Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins

Another year, another list of beaten games. I have no specific grand total I want to achieve this year, but in December I identified twelve games that I want included on the list. My first game of 2012 isn't one of those twelve, though. It's a 20-year-old Game Boy game that goes by Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins.

Fifty - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Yup. 50 videogames beaten in one year. I won't dwell on it in this space, though, because this is supposed to be a review. Number 50 is probably the one game that I was most embarrassed not to have played over the years: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Forty Five - Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

Well, 45 happened extremely soon after 44, because it was kind of a cop-out. I was stuck at this game's final boss about four years ago, after which I shelved my GameCube and basically forgot about it. But now, with no more exams standing in my way and looking for games to cross off my list, I fired it up again and beat that wit of a bitch after four or five tries. Totally worth it. It's Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, by the way.
