Twenty Seven - Disgaea Infinite

New entry is for Disgaea Infinite, a PSP visual novel that is great for fans of Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, but absolutely worthless for anyone else. You know I'm a fan, because for crying out loud my avatar's Laharl.

I'll keep this entry short. Or at least try to. I bought this game on a whim because I had a lot of PSN money sitting in my account, and I'm feeling the hype train rolling for Disgaea 4, which comes out next month.

Basically, it's a visual novel about Etna trying to eat some pudding and Laharl trying to steal it. Laharl eats some jet fuel by accident instead (really), blames the castle's Prinnies (underworld penguin slaves) for the resulting explosion, and reduces their salary. One brave Prinny employs a time-traveling device to try and change the course of history so he saves his savings. Annnd, scene.

It's pretty normal visual novel stuff from that point. Great fully-voiced dialogue, multiple plot paths and endings, and lots of Disgaea inside jokes, fanservice, and references. The game even attempts to explain connections of the D1 cast to Disgaea 2, Disgaea 3, and Phantom Brave, from what I could tell. I only unlocked 7 of the 14 endings in the game's database - which is really funny, comprehensive, and rich with detail, by the way - but unlocking half seemed like enough. One of these days I'll go back to it and unlock more, when I'm feeling the need for more shenanigans from Laharl et al.
